Presentation:
Lady was so named because of her beauty, elegance, and charm. She is well bred and her manners reflect that. She is polite and gentle, sweet natured, and kind. She is loyal to her friends and is especially protective of her family and home. She's very faithful to her family, her loyalty is unwavering to the point that when given the choice to live a life free from rules and expectations and obligations to them, she chooses instead to return to them to look after the baby. The baby is her pride and joy. She shows true devotion to him and would go to any length to protect him, though she shows near equal devotion to Jim Dear and Darling.

It's important also to note that Lady is from the year 1903, and that world is very different from the present day. Automobiles and telephones are just beginning to be found on the streets and in homes; horse and carriage is still a dominant means of transport and people more often write letters or send telegrams than use the phone. Lady herself has no concept of technology, nor any real use for it as a household pet. And she has no idea of the world outside of her little town. Lady's perceptions of the world are quite limited and skewed by the fact that she is so sheltered, and the fact that she is a dog. She is naive about the world outside of her own neighborhood. Most of her socialization is with other purebred dogs and with her owners and their wealthy friends and relations. She knows nothing of poverty, nothing of pain, having never truly witnessed or experienced it herself. She leads an idyllic existence where such things do not exist. It's an uncomplicated life, and one that she cherishes.

And she is a proper lady of her era. Even though she is a dog, she behaves in a way that is proper and for the most part, she fulfills what is expected of her socially. Or at least she did before she met the Tramp. Meeting him opened her eyes to new ideas, to a whole new world outside of the manicured lawns and white picket fences of her neighborhood. He excites her, pushes her to consider new ways of thinking, even if he does sometimes mock her upper class background. She finds him very charming and cares for him deeply. And she trusts that he will look after her and help her to find her way home after their romantic evening together. But of course, things didn't quite go as planned.

For the purposes of the Games, Lady will be humanized, as discussed with the mods. The option was given to humanize her by having the mechanism that brought her to Panem have also grabbed someone else simultaneously, thus combining the two. Lady would be possessing the body of a young human woman, short, slight, with big eyes and a kind smile, though her gate is somewhat clumsy (or will be until she can completely master bipedal movement.) Once she's adjusted to her new form, her movements will be graceful and dainty. Her speaking voice is soft and slightly husky, oftentimes her statements will end as questions, and her manner is certainly always polite.

Motivations: Love and loyalty are the two biggest motivations in her life. She is devoted to her family and steadfast in her desire to protect them. Her sense of self-preservation is second to her need to safeguard her loved ones. Lady has a big heart and she is very capable of loving and being loved, however on the flipside she is also very capable of being hurt.

The most traumatic experience she's had so far in her life is being caught by the dog catcher and taken to the pound. This is the first time she's ever truly been afraid for her life; even during the dog fight the day before, she had the Tramp to look after her. While she is in the pound, she is alone and faced with strange dogs who've been hurt by humans. But even then, she's been so pampered and spoiled her entire life, she has a hard time believing that humans could ever do real harm to animals. And she's never even considered that humans could ever harm each other.

This perception, as well as other behaviors may paint her as somewhat slow, but for a dog, she's actually quite clever. Even though she is a very well trained and well behaved dog, Lady is still a dog and has a tendency to display some typical dog behavior. She isn't always accepting of intruders in her home and can be apprehensive with strangers, though her curiosity usually wins out. She loves fresh air and loves to run around her yard. She will play games, such as fetch, and perform tricks. And she loves to please people. In fact, she can't stand the idea of disappointing her family or causing trouble. When she's in trouble or feels bad, it's evident all over her face. She can be emotional, though, as a canine, her emotions aren't necessarily the most complex. When she's hurt, she cries. When she's happy, she laughs. When she feels pride, she shows herself off. Emotions beyond that may not be beyond her capabilities, but they aren't easy for her to understand, so she has a tendency to instead focus on the more basic ones.

SAMPLES
Thread: Here is a thread. Since that thread took place while she's a dog, I've also provided a sample of her as a human.

VIDEO

[The young lady on the screen looks very frightened. She's rushing from the porter building, looking around frantically as she cries out:]

Help! Help! Someone, please help me!

[She gasps then, looking almost terrified as she covered her mouth with her hands.]

I can't stay here! I have to get back to the baby! I have to go home! Jim Dear… and Darling! They're going to be so worried when I don't come home! Please let me go home, please!

[She tears up then, lip trembling.]

If this is because I… because I ran away…? Or because I chased those poor chickens?  Or is it because of... last night?

[She looks embarrassed to even mention that, tears still streaming down her cheeks.  After a moment of whimpering, she pulls herself together at last, voice resolved, though somewhat shaky.]

Please, whoever brought me here, please listen!  I must look after the baby.  He... he promised he'd take me home to see the baby!  You can't keep me from him!  You just can't!  I promise I'll be very obedient and I'll never do it again! Just please, let me go home!

Prose:
A petite young woman stumbled into the room, lacking all sense of grace as her arms flailed out to her sides in an attempt to keep her balance. Wide, dark eyes flicked from person to person and her expression twisted into something helpless and small. The racks of weapons laid out before her barely even registered. She'd never seen objects like those before and had no idea what in the world they would be for or how a person might wield them. Not surprising, considering she'd never even had hands before the afternoon. Lady had no use for weapons, instead focusing her efforts on the humans in the room. If anyone could resolve this and send her home to the baby, surely it would be them.

"Please excuse me, I'm very sorry to be a bother, but I... I think something has gone very wrong. I've never--"

Her voice dropped off abruptly as she watched the humans, noting that they seemed entirely unmoved by both her presence and her plea. Ten seconds passed, and then ten more, and still the woman said nothing, though her sense of balance seemed to have leveled out at least.

"I've never been locked up before, I've only ever heard talk about it, but I don't think this is what it's supposed to be like. Surely I would have heard about it if being locked up meant being turned into a human." Surely that would catch their attention, cause them to realize their mistake and put her in her right form and send her home to Jim Dear and Darling. "Please, won't anyone listen? I'm licensed, you can check the number on my collar, I'm registered and everything. That's supposed to get me sent home, isn't it? My get-out-of-jail-free card, the others called it?"

But no such luck. The judges were, it seemed, unimpressed, and there was little Lady, in an awkwardly large, completely unwieldy human body, being punished for running away. What good would she be to anyone like that, stuck in that horrible body? How could she protect the baby if she was... dead? She could hardly even fathom what death was, let alone what it would mean to her. For Lady, it was a big frightening unknown, even more scary than the world that existed over the hills and far away.

Tears sprang up in her eyes and she wiped at her dampened cheeks with a paw. Hand, rather. That was what the humans called theirs, she remembered with a sniff.

"And... and besides! I can't fight against humans. I simply couldn't. I won't." She inched backwards, away from the Gamemakers, gracelessly knocking into one of the weapon racks. Spears and blades clattered to the floor, causing her to yelp in alarm. Not wanting to cause any more trouble than she already had, she knelt to the floor (nearly losing her balance in the process) and reached a dainty hand out to pick up one of the knives, nicking her finger in the process.

She gasped at the sight of her own blood, instinct kicking in and commanding that she lick her wound. There really wasn't anyone there to protect her or save her. No one was coming to help her, not Aunt Sarah, not Jim Dear, not even the Tramp. Lady was completely alone and there was no way out. The one thing she had left was her dignity. Wordlessly she brought her finger to her lips, giving the Gamemakers one last haunted look, one final impression before being allowed to exit.

What is your character scored: A 2 or a 3. Lady is a dog in a human's body and she is completely unused to operating in such a form. She's also not mentally equipped to handle the trauma of the Games, no matter how clever a dog she may be. She is certainly charming and could win sympathy from the judges and sponsors, but she is incapable of surviving the arena under basically all circumstances.

Additional information: I'd like to humanize Lady using the second option discussed here.
